what does "conditioning a female" mean?

Liz - Conditioning a female means taking anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks and feeding her live or freeze dried food. This will get her loaded with eggs for breeding. Females will not normally breed if they are not conditioned. - Jul 29, 2002
