My black female is infertile, why?

mart - as i know, the melano-betta-strains (the melano gene makes a betta look black) are this inbreed that the females are normaly infertile, so you have to outcross, because you can`t spawn a black female. if you are rich enough to pay for high quality bettas there is also a new strain which is not so inbreed and where females are fertile, i found it (i think) on the bettatalk.com homepage... have a look - Oct 18, 2001
