Should I have a filter for breeding

Hans - Filters usually disturb the water surface while running and thus will affect the bubblenest - so it's not advisable to turn on the filter during breeding. A sponge filter is good AFTER breeding and when the fly are swimming horizontally; it'll help clear up the water. However, since the fly are so tiny, the sponge filter must be operating at such low power that only a few bubbles are release every second. - Nov 12, 2001
