Tank Maintainence - Changing Water

Michelle M. - Due to the nature of my water, it has to sit and age a couple days before I can use it (so I can't just draw it warm from the tap). I use 3 gallon plastic pails and heat the water with an extra heater (I bought the longest one that would still fit in the pail). It takes about 1/2 hour to heat. - Jan 3, 2001
xeries - We have a set up that we use that seems to be very effective as well. We got a 45 gal plastic garbage can from Target, filled it up with water from the faucet, placed an bubbling airstone in it and a heater. We age the water for 2-3 days and have plenty of water when it comes time for water changes for both our jars and our aquariums. The airstone aids in the aging process and the heater keeps our fish from being shocked by temperature changes during water changes. We place tap water conditioner (45 drops-1 drop/gallon) we purchase at PetSmart in there as well to take care of the chloramines and other stuff that won't bubble off. Hope this helps. - Jan 3, 2001
