How to disinfect a tank to rid disease?

Donna - Try using a MILD solution of plain old chlorine bleach (with NO added fragrances, etc.) and water for the tank and all the equipment used in it(actually, I'd just throw the sponge away and replace that). Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry so no chlorine smell remains. Also, you can use some of your dechlorinator in the final rinse and again in the water when you refill the tank, just to be sure all the chlorine is gone. - Dec 15, 2000
Michelle M. - Diseases are always present in the water. When a fish's immune system goes down (exposure to an active disease, stress, etc.), they can contract them. - Dec 27, 2000
