bettasx - First off in order for the betta to be healthy you must have clean water and have the water treated for chemicals such as chlorine, rust, and other harmful things. Through my experiences, I have always used a tank that has its own fishes that is about 10 gallons. This is where I have always gotten my water from. Since the water is aged and has gone through most of the process of nitrogating, this water will be most optimal for the betta. The water will not bubble at the sides and will not have harmful chemicals in them. If the fish in your ten gallon tank die then there might be something wrong with the water so check it out before using it on your betta. Ohyea, remember to keep cheap fish like guppies or goldfish in your ten gallon tank, so if it is dangerouse you will not have lost anything much. Don't be rediculous and keep an expensive top of the line betta in there. :P - Oct 25, 2000

Some time ago his water kept on getting cloudy and once it cleared, he was covered in this white stuff that stayed on him for an hor or two and then came off him after an hour or two. His stomach is really bloated otherwise. I tried feeding him peas and not feeding him for one day but nothing seems to have worked, his stomach grows larger and larger day by day.
