Greetings.
Im a beta breeder noob and a robbed my 2 betas of a nest. Everything was perfict so we thought. My male "Sid" made an awesome nest over night in his pre-fab polystyrene cup. My female "Nancy" is bloated and pumped with eggs, we can even see her lil egg tube thing pokeing out. Ok so we watched them chase around all day nipping ,flareing [nothing harsh at all]. I was reading that the depth of my 10 gallon tank was too deep for them so i lowerd the water level to 6 inches about and TOTALY UTTERLY MANGLED AND DESTROYED Sids nest :(( !! ok so all is set back up hes rebuilding my noobness mestake and Nancy is in her glass waiting. My question is........... is there anyway possable to make a bubble nest for Sidney cause i dont want Nancy to poop out her eggs premeturly.. ......

Let the stoneing begain now !!!!
Another stupid question , ... Why cant i hawk a lugy in the cup for him since its made of his spit and air for the bubbles anyways??? seriously i considerd makeing him a nest cause i feel soo bad for wrecking his nest he spent like 24 hrs stright forming, i sware after he saw the distrustion i saw him give me the stink eye

If the female is showing Vertical Bars She is ready to breed, She should also have a white spot where the eggs come out underneath her tummy.

Our female did the same thing (let eggs out) I think that is just the egg she doesn't need. The male actually has to fertilise them when he wraps him self around her.
Look it up on the net, Most of the sites are really useful
Here is one:
http://www.bettysplendens.com/articles/page.imp?articleid=722

The eggs she lets out are the eggs she can't hold.
Just let her eat them, they are no use.
When his bubblenest is big enough and she knows she is ready She will come up to him hopefully.

Well a couple of days ago we got a female Betta.
after a few days we got a male, They showed much interest in each other.

Now she has the white spot and has a bit of a bulging belly. like she is holding eggs.

We have them in the same tank but seperated with a partition, so they can still see each other.
She looks all ready to Spawn but he hasn't even started making a bubblenest!
it might take a bit longer but I am not sure, if something is wrong.

He flares his gills at her and she stays very close to the Partition watching him and waiting till he comes across from her.

If you have any info please reply. it was help heaps

Thank you

Sorry I had to go out.
Only squeeze her as a very last resort, like if she gets as big as your last girl.
I know the "egg spot" can be very obvious but it does not mean that she actually is ready for breeding, mine constantly show theirs. Is she showing verticle bars, horizontal bars or no bars at all?
I understand that you bred them years ago but sometimes it can take a bit of advice to get the ball rolling and rejog memories.
Also another thing is he might not be wrapping her strong enough or they could even be too old, most of the LFSs around me sell older betta but I know of one that gets theirs in at 3months (start of ideal breeding age) but another I have seen selling bettas that you would assume are about 2years (way over normal breeding age). It can be really frustrating when you think you are getting a decent pair but with no results. Also remember there are certain types of betta that are not able to reproduce like the black females as an example.
If there are no eggs by tomorrow I suggest you take her out and try conditioning the pair to see if that works.
Also do not feed them whilst in the breeding tank while the female is in there as if they do spawn they may eat the eggs thinking they are also food.
Each betta is different and so technics vary.
Good luck and I hope you get your fry soon :)

Have you conditioned the bettas or have you just thrown them in together, are the conditions of the tank ideal as well as the size, do you know what it is going to take to raise them for 3 months?
These are just general questions as I do not know you but if I can answer any questions for you I will.

Next time if she drops eggs early still put her in there as there will still be plenty more to come, if it is not too late already you could still do that, just keep a close eye on them, he should pick up on her hormones and realise she has eggs ready to go and then they should start spawning within a day or two, it could have been that she just had too many eggs, next time though I would suggest against putting the eggs in because he may be too busy caring for unviable eggs and miss out on spawning and instead attack her.
If she is still showing her bars I say go for it. Just keep an eye on them.
